Apart from the tours below, Friends in Nairobi have expressed interest in offering brief Home stays (2-3 nights) after the World Conference in their homes in Nairobi. For further information and contacts, please contact our Local Coordinator, Cornelius Ambiah. Closing date for booking is 29th February 2012.

Some of you may want to come to Kenya for longer, to volunteer in Quaker projects. FWCC/LAC is not organising these longer visits but you can contact Cornelius to be put in touch with those organisations that are willing to receive volunteers.

Post Conference Safaris

Safari prices include accommodation with 3 meals per day, park entry fees, tours in safari vans with pop up roofs with English speaking driver guides. Other languages would also be possible subject to prior notice.

What you need to bring for safari: Casual wear, April is a rainy month so you will need jackets or pullovers to cater for the cold evenings, a brimmed hat, sun glasses, sun cream, camera, a pair of binoculars, and light shoes. Visitors are advised to carry minimum luggage while on safari. Luggage not needed on safari can be stored at hotels where visitors stay before safari. You will also need to bring some cash for drinks, souvenirs and for tips. Most of the lodges accept credit cards.

For those on low budgets we have included budget safari prices with accommodation in tents. Tents in Maasai Mara have beds, mattresses, beddings, showers and toilet facilities – all self contained. Camping facilities in Samburu and Amboseli are limited. Some tents have beds but toilet and shower facilities are external. For larger groups we will have to use pitch tents with floor mats. In Nakuru guests who would like to do budget safaris will stay at the wildlife clubs of the Kenya guest house or in ‘bandas’ (a prefab structure with 2 - 6 beds) but we may also use hotels in Nakuru if the numbers exceed bed capacity.

It is important to book your safari in good time so that you are guaranteed of accommodation inside the parks and at the indicated lodges/camps.
